ls2/3 into sagaris

Hi Guys

Has anyone fitted an ls2 v8 into a sagaris ? I know it has been done in the cerb,The reason for asking is i want to build a track car that is different from the rest and love the torque of the light weight alloy ls v8 engines(i have one fitted to the rx7).Also does anyone know were there is a slightly damaged sag or one with a dead motor that someone wants a quick sale on.

there was a saggy at Silverstone last year running in the 24hr with a V8...think it may have been a Ford unit rather than Chevy, although not certain, so it can be done - im not sure that anyone here will have done a DIY job though so you may be the first ......

Don't think that Sag was a real Sag, more a silhouette racer based on the original Tuscan Challenge racer chassis. However anything is possible with enough time money, think there is at least one Speed Six Tuscan that has a yank V8 in it, don't see why the same could not be done for a Sag. Problem is finding a donor as there are not a lot of Sags out there in reality.

I did see the Cerb having the LS engine fitted, because the 4.2 unit had run its day. The AJP V8 is quite a big lump and the transplanted LS unit was quite easy to fit in, and had lots of room left around it from what I remember. So it may fit in a Sag going on the size of the sp6.

IIRC the racing Sag is often driven by PHer Rude-boy 's (John Hay) brother Richard.
May be worth PMing John to see if either he knows more or if he can get some more info from his brother.

Racing Sags that I've seen use the tuscan chassis. Lsx will fit with mods to the rear of the upper chassis rails, use a small clutch and bell housing.

Which tuscan chassis, the old racing type or the new speed six type,Here is a short video of my ls2 powered rx7 at rc developments,It made 607 lbs of torque @6200 rpm,515 lbs at only 2100 rpm,car weighs 1040 kg.We put some hard compound rear tyres on the rear as it would have shreaded the 888's.

Old tuscan chassis. I measured up one ages go and went to assist with an installation so I know it can be done. This is how the sag replica's were created.

Silhouette is a term usually used to describe something with a space frame chassis clothed in bodywork which mimicks that of a monocoque constructed car.

That is not the case here. It would be fairer to say that it is has a chassis with a differently shaped engine bay.
