Anyone else going, it's in Victoria Park in London tomorrow and crucially, its free.

For anyone not familiar with it (I wasn't until yesterday):

"Love Music Hate Racism Carnival 2008 celebrating Rock Against Racism's 30th Anniversary takes place this Sunday 27th April in Victoria Park, London and is FREE. Headliners include The Good The Bad & The Queen, Jay Sean, Hard-Fi, The View, Roll Deep, Jerry Dammers RAR Allstars, Get Cape.Wear Cape.Fly, Natty, and Babyshambles' Drew McConnell's Helsinki project ft. John McClure, Fyfe Guillemot, Poly Styrene, Jimmy Pursey and many more."

I know it's all a bit left wing for PH, but the music should be good! biggrin

I don't think there's ANYTHING 'left wing' in condemning racism.

Have you read the Pie & Piston lately? biggrin

Only joking. hippy

Never made it in the end - I was supposed to be going with the OH and her recording session over ran this morning. Couldn't be arsed by then.

It did get a bit political - lots of campaigning going on by the usual suspects - Left List, Green Party, Red Ken etc and plenty of left wing speeches between the acts. One group of blokes weren't towing the line though, they kept shouting out "Vote Boris", "Capitalism's great" and "Get a job" during the speeches. biggrin Apart from that the atmosphere was generally pretty chilled and Hard-Fi were good. I can't comment on the rest of the acts as I either didn't know who there were, or they aren't my thing.

If you're interested, I've posted some photos here http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/topic.asp?h=0...

Yep, whilst I agree stopping facism is very important, it did all seem a tad millitant. smile

Hard Fi were the people I wanted to see. Glad to hear they were good - I love their albums (particularly the first one), but whenever I've seen them before they've struggled to reproduce the same sort of sound with just three people playing an instrument each. The Good The Bad And The Queen would have been interesting too - they are something of a super-group with members of Blur, The Verve and The Clash all in there. That said, I do have the urge to give Damon Albarn a slap every time he opens his mouth, so listening to him ranting on the socialist bandwagon might have been more than I could take.

Borris for mayor! hippy

Enjoyed Hard-Fi's set, but didn't stay for The Good The Bad And The Queen as I've not been impressed with their stuff and it looked like it was about to chuck it down again. Also I know what you mean about Damon Albarn wink
