bmw e36 steering rack

The power steering rack on my 1993 325 e36 has started leaking. I can see some on ebay, they would appear to be all the same (apart from perhaps the m3) - so can i just get any 90's rack for it?

Member Sniff Petrol has just broke an E36 IIRC.

Dam, let the thing go last week as I needed the space for the 309 GTi.

Apparently you can put the quicker Z3 rack on, IIRC ShropshireMike has one on his 328i

I think if you just want to swap like for like Eliot you can get one off any E36 except for the 3.0 M3 ( Non-EVO ). They have a variable ratio rack ( slower around the straight ahead but quicker once soem lock is applied ). Not sure how it 'works' with the different front geo and suspension set up on your wife's car so I'd get one similar to what you have. Check whether it has lock limiters on if you get a 2nd hand one off a sporty version
