Airbrush Booths

Anyone use one and if so how good are they and how much/where from etc?

I don't, but I really should. I find the overspray from aerosol cans more of an issue than from an airbrush.

They always seem to be in the £200 price category - which does seem rather excessive for what they are. I'm waiting for an Aldi special to appear some day.

Found one on ebay from the US for $199.00

With Shipping and a transformer its going to be another £60...

still much cheaper than the ones I cn see over here.

I dont use the airbrush that much, but aerosols I do use alot, and I imagine they are far worse for me.

If you can be arsed you can make one for about £40 from B&Q items. Sheet of MDF, some wire mesh sheet and a cheap bathroom extractor fan. Only thing you can't get from B&Q is the filter foam but you can get those at any decent art shop.

yeah me to, I just bought one instead. Thought I best pass on the tip though, just in case.

Another handy hint is just open the window - if you are as lazy as me then you wont bother plugging the booth in for the few seconds you'll use it for, so it'll just be an unattractive shelf.

I'm not an expert on this but I've been told you should use specific extractor fan motors that don't spark as there's a high ignition risk with most atomised paints!

Yeah heard similar myself, which is why I was told bathroom extractors - mostly sealed motors to prevent moisture ingress but suppose that's no guarantee!
