Time Attack Car

What would be the very bestest car to buy and strip for use in time attack events for road cars?

Locally the Evo's seem to be cleaning up in the 2L+ class and Hondas in the <2L class but I want to dare to be different....

Any ideas?

OK, maybe should have set a budget!!

Around 10K ish should do it, then whatever mods I can squeeze in without the wife noticeing...

apparently monocoque-esque cars like caterhams are not allowed and cars must be prodcution cars.
in my opinion, it all seems geared up so the tuning companies have a product showcase, the tuning crowd get to be involved in motorsport (no bad thing!) and its a competition to get huge horsepower out of an Evo or an Impreza (equals big ££&#163 and they dont want lightweight sportscars ruining their fun (all imho!) seems a shame.

seems to compete you need 4wd, but if you look at the times they are running then compare them with times from race series, you should be able to get an idea of what would compete against the evos et al.

What is a monocoque-esque car? A spaceframe panelled with aluminium?

Most modern production cars are monocoques, "one-shell" is what it means, kind of!

sorry i meant space frame rather than monocoque but yes, tubes and panels are out apparently...
