In a change from previous events it looks like the success has caused them to shift to somewhere else. But it is still free - I've racked up some tickets so look to seeing anyone there!

Gauging from the reaction to previous years at Donington this is a bit of a chav fest with the free tickets dragging all sorts of pikeys to the event. I'll be having a bbq before loading the van up for Le Mans that weekend so will be keeping a wide berth.

Free? you'd have to pay me big money to go, i've been thrice now, you'd think after the 1st two times I would have learnt. Chav fest extraordinaire. Think of the worst ever max power/barry boys event possible, with an F1 car tucked away in a corner somewhere, supposedly to give the event some class.

Well I've booked my tickets and will probably pop along to see what it's like at Silverstone. Went to last years and didn't think it was too bad. Found a nice quiet spot on the infield and just took loads of pics. Couldn't be bothered with all the Renault show stuff going on further along! lol

I remember seeing the renult owner's club cars in procession last year at this event and someone driving a renault 5 turbo II had an unfortunate kiss with the barrier. I think his friend posted on here to say the turbo lag caught him off guards and sent it into a sudden spin. There was also some old [and famous] x rally driver doing full power 100mph+ tail slides in an x works Turbo II which was f****ng awesome. I think he had better control of the turbo lag issue.

This is a great event. I totally disgree with the above comment that it is some kind of chav - fest. It Simply isnt. The cars on display are all pre registered/vetted by the alpine owners club. There are some very interesting cars to see. Its a good day out for the kids too with free rides etc.

The only issue which I beleieve has been resolved somewhat this year is that its just too busy! I think last year they had something ludicrous like 150,000 people over the 3 days last year.

Hence the move to Silverstone which now has better access roads (wonder if they introduce the F1 - one-way system on the A43

It was a bit of a chav fest last year, but the company kept during the event was sublime and more than made up for it!wink

Wont be there this year, already at Silverstone three times this season so I cant really justify the fuel costs for another jauntwink
