Search is down so a couple of questions from a new owner of 1997 4.5 with 36K on clock.

On my way home yesterday whilst travelling at normal road speeds the engine temperature hovered between 70 and 80 degrees. However, when driving slowly through villages and sitting at junctions it rose to 95 deg at which point the fans came on. Dealer says this is normal but 95 seems high to me and this is when it is only 22 deg outside, what would it be like if it was over 30 deg.

Is this how they all are?

If not can you get a sender that triggers the fans at a lower temp (85 perhaps)?

Hell of a car though. I still have a broad grin thinking about it.

The fans come on at 85 and 86

The gauge often reads 10 degrees higher because the capillary is routed close to the O/S manifold

So fans coming on at 95 on the gauge may well be OK

To be sure hook up a laptop with the software on Byker28i's site to check the temps when the fans com on

All normal for the Cerb.

And YES it does run higher in the hot summer months.

But don't worry too much as, being a pressurised system, the boiling point is thus raised to approximately 120*C.

Brain death must be setting in.

The fans come on as standard at 95/96

The TCS cooling chip turns them on at 85/86
