My passenger was concerned last night that their side of the bonnet was lifting at speed, which I can;t see from the driving seat?

Is there a modification to the Chimaera to stop the passenger side of the bonnet lifting, or do I have something missing? I have noticed some cars have a plastic sleeve over the edge of the black grill under the windscreen and mine doesn't?

Any thoughts?

Check your bolts in the bonnet bulge could be loose or worse case moving in the fiberglass.
Mines going for a repair in a couple of weeks for exactly the same problem.

Steve heath is supplying some replacement bonnet hinges that might cure the problem AND will allow you to lift off the bonnet easily if needs be! Ridiculously cheap, mine have been on order for a week.

Mine stopped lifting after installing the splitter underneath the front of the car. Absolutely no more bonnet movement up to topspeed on the autobahn.

tvrMoneypit,

The Camaro has a very nice 327 that has been worked on and revs very easily to 6500rpm.
Mallory electronic ignition, headers, holley, intake manifold, etc, etc.
Much nicer engine than a 350.

http://turnkeyenginesupply.com/products.html do an LS conversion package for it that bolts straight onto its TH350! It includes engine mounts, oil pan, headers, flexplate, manual throttle even the fuel hose. All you have to do is wire it up and fit new water hoses and air intake pipe! Lot easier than frigging around with a TVR - LOL

510 hp for $10,500 and $1,350 airfreight - 2 weeks delivery!

yes The splitter creates a pressure barrier in front of the car which prevents air being channeled underneath. This effectively creats a vacuum in the engine bay. Without the splitter the air under the car increases in pressure the faster you travel hence you get bonnet lift.

Thanks TVR Bob,

The splitter sounds like a good option. Where do I get one from ?

So if the splitter creates a vacuum in the engine bay does it increase heat dispensation over a car without a splitter (better cooling).

In my experience running without a splitter causes too much engine cooling. With the splitter the engine warms quicker and then relies on the fans to control temperature.

Most people make their own. Use the search function and look for 'splitter' in Chim & Griff forums. Loads of info there.
