credit where due - even if they are F**ds
Discussion
was at former RAF base East Kirkby in Lincolnshire on the weekend for a family memorial service (my Uncle was lost in a Lanc in WW2) and a whole bunch of well cared for F**d Capris rocked up for a meet & a pic shoot in front of the east Kirkby Lanc. Credit where due - good to see any enthusiasts with a passion for iconic cars. BTW... Was it the UK cop show "The Professionals" that had one of those crashing through a plate glass window in the opening credits?

Was in the Jag last night when a tidy 2.8i special pulled out in front of me, I followed until we got side by side at the lighs, had a long conversation whilst the traffic behind saw red turn to green turn to red. Ooops
Was nice to chat to them, he said it was his pride and joy and as my 1st car was a 1.6 Laser and my 2nd car was a 2.8i I have a huge love for these motors

one track day ages back a capri turned up. All the scooby/evo kids scoffed at it as it looked completely standard. It had been completely rebuilt using modern components and left the 4wd cars trailing.
At the Marham track day there was a bloody quick black crapi, has to be the same one as there arent many left. Sounded nice to
Surprisingly underrated cars, esp the V6 variants and once the rear leaf spring set up was sorted with an A-frame location kit they handled brilliantly. Had 3 in my time, 1.6, 2.0 laser (smashed up pic in my cars profile)and the 2.8i Special. 5 speed Type 'N' box was bit of a poor effort though. Would love to have another as I've got to justify the shed load of Capri spares my wife would like me to bin!!
But I guess after the 'ro, it probably wouldn't be the same

course it would be the same! Its the entire thing of ownership you buy into, the capri is the only car I've owned and wanted to be a member of the owners club and admit to!!!
I'd love another but could not justify the current asking price for cars that aren't even mint considering 8 years ago I gave one away, a 2.8i that was in bloody good condition just no buyers were out there for it!

I think I'm perhaps coming from the angle of the creature comforts side of things. The 'ro is perhaps too comfy for me in my impending old age.. Wind down windows would knacker my arthritic elbow!I'd love another but could not justify the current asking price for cars that aren't even mint considering 8 years ago I gave one away, a 2.8i that was in bloody good condition just no buyers were out there for it!
I'd have another one as well, but have nowhere to store it these days.
If I had the choice and the money then the model would be the Turbo Technics 2.8i
The Tickfords were just plain ugly and the 280 was a poor and dissapointing end of model run. If money was no issue at all and if one were available, then the Mk 1 RS2600 (first European Ford to have mechanical fuel injection I think) which looked the dogs & was built by FoG to go up specifically against BMW on the track. The RS3000 and 3100 looked tame in comparison. Also agree with you about the owners club bit - went to many meets and the Summer camps at Badgers Hill with CCI were always good fun.
yep for me too the RS2600 was my ultimate - can still remember the posters (got via my Capri Club mag) of a perm wearing bloke and an orange RS2600, superb car. Didn't think they were injection though!
A lad I knew via the club bought an old manor house hotel up on the Scotish borders, when he opened up the barn he found an original RS3100 in there - in tact - with 3000 miles on the clock! Even back then in 97 these things were rare and expensive! What a jammy b
d!
I wasnt a fan of the look of the Tickford either but I doubt I'd want one of the turbos. Byker28i now in the TVR forum used to have a TT Capri.
I'd love a MK1 or if possible a JPS mk2 3.0s

Yup, RS2600 was Ford/Weslake Mechanical fuel injection. Shame it only came as a left hooker.
early cologne based then? I know the essex was prohibitively expensive to move to injection. The cologne is a s
t hole of an engine too despite going on to form the cosworth blocks. Wonder if Cosworth ever sorted the horrible exhaust arrangement from the v4 daysGassing Station | HSV & Monaro | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
