Well, is it worth the extra £30/head (= £120 for self, wife + two boys age 15 & 18). The cost isn't a major factor, but not sure if start/finish is a good place to be (subjective probably I know).

Only tickets left on DOnington website appear to be for start/finish grandstand - Redgate sold out. Went to Le Mans Moto GP last year and wished we'd got grandstand tickets on one of the bends - didn't arrive mega-early and ended up with fairly restrcted view (and very very wet!)

I'm a fan of the Old Hairpin. Just sit on the banking, witha view up towards Redgate, down Craner and away under the bridge. I tried the grandstand for the LMES a couple of years back and it's not that exciting. Also limits you to views, you can easily wander the entire circuit and take in a few places.

I did it from the Ducati tent in the infield last year - good views, no huge crowding problems. Sadly, they've gone Executive Box this year, and I'm simply not paying that much for a bit of shade, so in much the same position as you.

Do I take a blanket for me plus three, and spend the moolah on enjoyment, or a cushion and my own bottled water? smile

Donnington is quite open, in that you can wander around the infield and see most of the circuit.

Never been there for motoGP though so the crowds might make that more difficult than at Touring cars, Renault world series etc.

I'd say not for Donny, no. Views are pretty good and it's quite undulating so i find no need to bother...

Wouldn't bother. Old Hairpin (outside) and Hollywood (outside) both give excellent views. Goddards (inside) and Redgate (inside) are good places to be if you want to take part in the inevitable track invasion. Macleans (outside) and Esses (outside) can also be good, too.

I favour Hollywood (outside) as they usually have a nice big screen there, too smile

Yep, the view down to the old hairpin and around Schwantz is my favourite too, and the approach to the Esses is always good for a bit of outbraking action but it's usually too crowded to see anything, unless you get there early.
