Hi Daz,
I recently changed from a Chimeara 500 to a T350c, although I had a 2 year gap, looking for the right T350. I think the Tamora is very similar to the T350.
So they come with the 3.6 Speed 6, but think you may be able to get the 4.0 Red Rose, as I have seen a few T350's with the RR option.
I was adivised to get a later 2004 car, as a lot of the Speed 6 issues had been resolved by then. I am sure someone will post if this is not the case.

You don't need to buy a Tamora with the engine rebuild all ready done. I purchased a 2002 3.6L Tamora in November 2005 and had the 4.0L RR conversion done by Richard at Dulfords. Read my article in March's sprint

I think it is better to have the engine conversion done yourself rather than buying a Tamora with it done already as you don't know how the engine has been treated, where as if you are starting from scratch then you do.

I moved from a 4ltr Chim to standard 3.6 Tamora, and was certainly happy with the performance of the Tamora. For me it was more the handling than just bhp. I bought from new in 05, so can't comment on buying an newer model, but I have no real issues to comment on in the last two and a half years.

I know people don't seem to care about grammar and spelling these days but come on, this is appalling!Regarding your post: I think condition is more important as there are Tamoras out there with relatively high mileages with no engine rebuilds. I did 30,000 miles with no problems before having an engine rebuild.
The standard engine (3.6l and 350bhp) is certainly powerful enough, especially on UK roads. Driving skill would be more important than increased bhp to go any faster point-to-point.
Go for it, I certainly don't miss my old Chimaera as the Tamora is an improvement in virtually all areas.
