So now I know what it feels like when the throttle cable snaps!
Went out for a drive as the sun was setting this evening, just exiting a sleepy Wilts village after cruising past some chatting drinkers outside a pub,
then floored the throttle, and SNAP! Bugger!
Pulled over and began trying Mr Heath's tips, when a very kind chap in an Audi stopped and offered some help. He provided me with a length of cord so I could make a hand-throttle (no, not to hang myself) before getting back in his car with the final comment "Well that's TVRs for you!"
Edited to add that I've ordered a new cable from TVR Gear and checked posts here for tips - ('don't let the cable dissapear into the outer sheath' was one) - it did, slightly, but I managed to retrieve it. Problem is, I've got the MOT on Saturday!
