Theres nothing new in this as such, thats what the budget statement said, however, nice work by the papers on the eve of an election in London that effectively hinges on transport policy...

It's not new, it's just that there is widespread ignorance of this fact.

More papers / news progs need to highlight this so that the great unwashed realise that they're being ripped off.

Well that sucks. Can we sue the government for changing policies and lying? That or public castration for them...

Yea, most people will only reailse this when they are stood in their houses opening their road tax renewal papers. Then their personal outcry of financial pain is gonna be heard by no one... just the way the scummy commys in government want it... keep us quiet while they drive the knife in

As the saying goes, "the people get the government they deserve". Vote Conservative next time. The country always ends up like this under Labour. Always.

Hi, I'm new to this forum but feel incensed with increased car tax that's been dumped on us again.
Reading the TimesOnline article the following extract is why I bought my 2004 ST220 in February 2008.

"The Government began varying road tax rates in 2001 but did not introduce the band G rate for cars that emit more than 225g/km, until March 2006. In the Budget that year, Gordon Brown, then the Chancellor, said that no car registered before March 23, 2006, would have to pay the band G rate".

I know my car is high on emissions and high fuel consumption but my low mileage made it a car to enjoy in my advanced years. This Government needs to be ousted and as Brown is an un-elected PM therefore the Labour party and Darling have no sanctioned power.
We need an election to sort this mess out soon.

Hanging, drowning, pills, shotgun, jump of a high building. There ya go Mr Brown, a few options to be getting along with. All the best in your quest for suicide. Any more help please dont hesitate to ask.
