I took my 360 to Maranello's for a new battery and they kindly pointed out my wheel bolts were not correct and approved. I asked how much for a new set and was told it would be £1000 for a set. I of course said 'oh what a bargain please fit them for me at once kind sir' yeah f...ing right a grand for wheel bolts..

So I called a friend in the trade and got them for £8 per bolt for Ferrari bolts. I called the lovely boys back at Maranellos to give them a second chance.. Maybe I misheard them? but no they told me they buy in at £71 per bolt.

I appreciate Ferraris cost a lot to run and have no issue with that but I do have an issue with rip off merchants and I have to say I felt I was trying to be ripped off here.

Just a word of warning when dealing with them

Cheers

Graypaul wanted £350 for a couple of replacement aircon hoses for my 550. The guys at Millbrook got some made to measure for me for £70

Likewise, when I put my new exhaust on the car I needed to replace 4 rubber bungs that hold it on. Again, the main deler wanted £36 each for Fezza parts. The guys at Millbrook pointed out that there are identical parts with a Maza badge on them for £9.

I also avoid my local audi dealer for my A8. I enquired recently about underseal for it. The bird on the phone said "I don't know what you are talking about". WTF is that all about?

Why on earth would they have been changed!
You only just bought this car can you get the dealer you bought from to pay as it should have been sold with proper bolts?

You can get bolts from hill Engineeriung.

Top quality and as with most Hill Engineering stuff, better than Ferrari OEM

It’s a mugs game….

You can say that again!

I remember this time last year when I bought a 360 Spider from Stratstone in Manchester, within 6 weeks, I was asked to pay for new tyres, new exhaust, new roof seal, new pads & discs all around.....

I think they just expected me to just leave it in the garage & polish it.

Ex Ferrari owner.

I think that's a harsh statement to make about Ferrari Dealers without knowing the facts.

Dealer but the parts direct from italy and not the imported unlike BMW etc. This increases costs straight away, also due to production numbers parts are bought/ordered in very small numbers from the suppliers vs BMW and even the likes of Porsche making cost price to Ferrari SpA a fair chunk more. Dealers use set margins and must use 100% genuine parts regardless of costs to adhere to franchise rules.

Small engineering companies and reproduce more parts at a fraction of the cost but large design and engineering companies wouldn't even consider orders for small quanties at hugely discounted prices.

saying all that i do agree that's a huge amount for a set of bolts regardless of what car it's for.

P.S was the 360 an Approved Car with Factory backed warranty? did you not get some goodwill?

It’s a long story… Posted last year. Without going over the details again, Approved used Ferrari from main dealer = Nightmare!

i'm sure many people have their share of issues with dealers and specialist. you would hope if it's shortly after purchase and there's not evidence of abuse then goodwill should come into play.

Must be an Italian thing...

When I got my new Panda (yes it's not a Ferrari but I'm working on it) I asked them how much the floormats were... 60 quid. !!

So I went to another FIAT dealership about 20 minutes away, 23 quid + VAT, thank you very much. smile

Perhaps they quoted 360 CS bolts by mistake ? Aren't those titanium ?
