Bilstein B12 or B16 for 997 S?
Discussion
I am considering a Bilstein B12 Tuning Kit or possibly a Bilstein B16 Damptronic Coil over Kit (my car has PASM). Does anybody know if both of these offerings still allow the PASM normal/sport button functionality?
I don't track my car, and I'm not too concerned about height adjustability after its fitted, so I'm thinking the standard B12 setup with 25mm drop would be fine for me.
However, as roads here in the UK are worse than those in India, I really don't want a too harsh or rough a ride. I tend to keep the PASM in Normal mode 95% of the time as its most suitable...will the B12 setup be as supple as the standard shocks/springs in normal mode or will it be more 'crashy'? Is this B12 setup a similar ride comfort to standard, but just lower?
If the B12 setup is as harsh in 'Normal' mode as the standard shocks/springs are in 'Sport' then its probabbly not worthwhile for me.
The car is my daily driver, and a crashy ride will mean more squeaks and rattles over time...
Any racing/track gurus out there with any advice or experience on this?
Thanks
Ross

Hi Kawasicki,
I'm looking to lower the car ~ maximum 35mm and also get a sharper ride than with my worn OE shocks (114,000 Km).
B16 are height and stiffness adjustable and just because of that appear less reliable than a classic assembly like B12 kit (B8 shocks with shorter Eibach springs).
Even if money was the same for B16 and B12 I still don't find the arguments for the right decision.
