I've been trying to find a replacement centre console for my S2 Elise, the current one is quite badly scratched and i don't think i'll get a very good finish if i respay it.
I found a 'Part finder' salvage company on the net which locates parts from various breakers.
They quoted £50.00 + Vat and carriage yikes I can get a brand new one from a main stealer for £71.00 + Vat.

Does anyone have any sugggestions where i might be able to get one from (cheap!)...??

Thanks.

Get it resprayed! There are lots that have done it (including me)and they look a lot better in body colour IMHO smile Or you could always have it covered in leather?

That's an idea! I may go for that, and get it sprayed to match the car... scratchchin

I did think about the leather option, however that will cost more and i think the bare looking plastic goes better with the interior IMHO

If you go onto the
http://www.bell-colvill.co.uk/LotusShop/Directory....

you can get either get yours retrimmed in leather (if you take yours to any Lotus dealer they will send it away) or you can get a replacement one trimmed in leather from the Lotus factory. It's costs more but looks great. It could be a option for you.

I've been thinking of getting this done (the re-trim) for ages because the centre console does look like it's made out of kinder egg plastic.

I had lots of bots trimmed at Hethel a few years back - generally depends on how busy they are...it can take 2 weeks or 2 months if they are really behind, you best ask when you send the bits in...its a top job - facotyr finish of course and reasonably priced smile

I've used the factory alot and the work is top notch....but can take up to 8 weeks.

They have had the coin trays and door surrounds from my S1 for 8 weeks and still not done, my centre console for 3 weeks and the sill pads for 5 weeks....but at least I know they will look good when they are done.

Mines also scratched to death and looks really tatty. Would you recommend taking it out to respray it? Is this an easy job?

Cinch of a job & really cheap to. Wet n dry the console, remove gear change decal, wipe down with white spirit then spray 3 or 4 layers. Once dry finish off with 3 layers of laquer. Replacement gear change decal available from Bell & Colvill part No A117U0286F £10.43
Looks good in some cases being sprayed the same as the body colour. Your choicethumbup

Thanks S2John, that's a great help, i have been wondering what to do about the gear selection sticker if i was to go the respray route!
I cannot believe they can justify charging £10.00 + for the sticker though.... robbing Barstewards.

Resprayed mine in exactly the same way but in Magnetic Blue to match the body. Halfords mixed the colour and it took me about two days (allowing for drying times). Well worth it and the cheapest option too.

My centre console is covered in leather with a stich running down the top. From now on I would only ever have it covered. Whilst I would say that the console does indeed look good painted in body colour, it still shows that its plastic. When its covered in leather it gives the car a better quality feel, and I believe it will wear better.

I can not recommend getting it covered in leather enough!!!

ps why bother sending it to lotus? any decent re-trimmer could do it for you, and you can even use the car whilst its away.

I don't mean to hijack your post my dear man, but i'm thinking of having bell & colvill do some interior work on my motor. I've got an ardent red S2. Just wondering what colour would be best inside. Any suggestions welcome, the only colour I can think of is that creamy magnolia colour. Anyone got any other ideas?

If I am hijacking just tell me to Pee off smile
