My swiss copy of GTA has a NOT TO BE SOLD IN THE UK warning on it, its only to be sold in switzerland and austria.

Yet all the text and language in the game is english.

So whats the difference?? and why does it specifically say not to sold in the UK? we usually get euro zone games with french, german and italian speech and text, and certainly never seen any games say they are for sale on here and austria, so is mine an ultra violent hard core porn version ?? (I do hope so)

I know that the Australian and New Zealand version is censored. Switzerland tends to be more conservative doesn't it? More likely to be licensing issues or something.

Probably something to do with import duty or something rather than any content differences.

no one in there right mind would buy it here to export, it cost equivalent of £50, then of course you would have to pay import duty. very odd

Its not legally binding (or shouldn't be).. It allows the producer to manage release dates by trying to control the "grey market".

HMV, Game and all the other big retailers will piss and moan to TakeTwo if they think there are people here importing from Austria or elsewhere. There are other reasons other than release date for why producers try to, or atleast seem to intimidate you into not "grey-importing".

They will have exclusive distributors for Austria, like they do here in the UK, who would be upset at someone else importing games.
