Will GTA 4 play on a Xbox or just a Xbox 360 ?

I am thinking of upgrading the ps2 ( old school ).

I would Love a PS3 but finances don't stretch at the mo.

I would like to play COD4 and GTA4, are these games only available to play on the Xbox 360 or will a cheaper plain jane Xbox play them aswell?

I have not been "into" gaming for about 7 years now so know nothing.
