Why don't they market the game as HD only?

I'm finding it nigh on impossible to play after a few missions. My flatmates HDTV is crisp and clear, and I can hardly see a fking thing.

If I'd have known I wouldn't have bothered.

I guess you mean your can't read the text/icons ? (As opposed to seeing cars and pedestrians which would be the same size regardless of HD/SD).

I think i mentioned this in another thread. Cant read it on my plasma screen either, but its easy to read on a 22" LCD monitor. Its a brightness/contrast thing. (Plasma's are a bit crap at reproducing colours near black in my experience).

I'm a pauper and am playing on a 14" portable. Adjusting the brightness and contrast from the in game menu improves matters.

I have no problem with my 32" LCD. ALthough it does seem to get very dark in some places, even when brightness is at full whack

I posted the same thing in the gameplay thread. I was pretty dissapointed with the graphics on my standard tv. I have the ps3 version. Messed around with brightness, contrast it brightened it up but everything was still blurry especially people in distance etc. I then turned off flicker reduction in the options menu and it sharpened up...

BTW mines on a 26" LCD from about 8' away and in-game nav icons are a bit small but can still understand/read everything fine.

Playing on a 24" Dell 2 feet from my face. With brightness and contrast in the in-game settings up, it's ace.

What AV cables are you guys using who cant see things properly on an HDTV??
Something is wrong if your console is set to 1080 and you cant read things like the mobile and the radar.
I run component through to a 42" LCD and it is great.

I do hope none of you are trying to use composite as opposed to component.

It's not permitted. The submission process for both Sony and Microsoft consoles includes testing in SD resolutions, and the game is supposed to be playable in both HD and SD.

HD is always the primary focus though, and you'll find many games with small, high contrast screen elements which just don't work so well in SD. The PS3 is even worse, as many games (including ours) are only using 2xMSAA which exacerbates any flickering/twinkling problems you might see.

(I'm not at Rockstar btw)

I tweaked the brightness and contrast last night and it made the game much more playable..

Prior to this it was pretty dark. I'm running an LG 32" HD TV via VGA

I play it on a projector which is great just have to play abit though with the colour settings to get it perfect. Its just a case of how you set it up usually with HD LCD Tvs

It does look very grainy sometimes, especially when driving fast through busy areas, but GTA's have never pushed the boundaries of console graphics. I'd rather have slightly dodgy graphics and no loading screens than amazing graphics but loading screens every five minutes.

Plasma should be significantly better than LCD in that regard.

No issues on a 20" LCD monitor upstairs (with not great contrast). Haven't tried it on the 42" Plasma downstairs yet, but I'm expecting it to look significantly better.
