Painting springs

The next job on the S is to remove the springs and give them a shiny new coat of paint. Should use chassis paint? My concern is that when the spring compresses the wrong type of paint may wrinkle or crack.

I just used some aerosol black - I didn't have the springs on for ages afterwards before I bought new ones but the paint didn't crack.

The new ones I have bought just look like standard paint.

Had surprisingly good results in the past, on rally cars etc, just using a good polyurethane domestic paint. Gives a good protective coat, flexible enough, doesnt crack or chip like cellulose (which can crack and let rust spread underneath), will take a bit of scratching. That is what I have used on my car anyway.
