Online Share Dealing - help required.
Discussion
I am relatively new to share trading. I have an online broker who have recently revamped their trading site. There are a few new options which were not available on the old site. Would someone be in a position to clarify their meaning?
1./ Good for today. (presumably sets order/sale price for the rest of the day's session?)
2./ Good through.
3./ Good until cancelled.
Just like to be sure, as mistakes can be costly!!
Thanks in anticipation.

Maybe call them up to double check, or see what documentation they have on their website. I am not an expert in shares, but the following thoughts spring to mind.1./ Good for today. (presumably sets order/sale price for the rest of the day's session?)

1. Is ambigious in some markets, could be end of the day session or the end of trading today or midnight. Even more confusing if you're trading in overseas markets.
2. If you put a date and time on it, it should be pretty clear until when the order is good until.
(maybe double check the timezone, even though I assume you are using a UK broker)
3. Should be very straightforward, especially for normal shares. But if you're trading futures, does it expire when the futures contract expires or do they just adjust it and move it the next futures contract etc.
