Just wanted to let everyone know about an experience I've had with my non power steering model, not sure if the same problem would happen with a power steering model.

I've experienced this before about three years ago and I've read a few posts on this aswell.

My TVR has been laid up for about three weeks due to work, so the weather was good today so I took her out, the steering was a bit stiff, and when I hit my first roundabout, I had to physically straighten the wheel up or I would still have been going around it now.

I've sorted it out today with, WD40, oil, and grease. Also I pumped some grease into the sterring rack.

But just a word of warning if your car ahs been laid up for a bit.

Regards,

Paul.

Sorry but this was destined for Chimaera forum but I'me sure this is the same setup for both marqs.

Hmmm, never had that problem, steering rack is greased once a year as part of the maintenance ritual.

Would've thought the steering UJ was a more likely culpret than the rack itself.

Was the problem with the steering column UJ, or the rack itself? It's common for the UJ to bind, not heard of this problem with the rack though.

Yes it was the UV joint near the bulk head, I've given it a good soaking in WD and greased up.

I'd replace 'em, only £30-40 each yes
