Big highside by Lorenzo resulting in a mangled ankle, not sure how bad it is yet. Don't forget the race is shown on BBC1 at 7.45am on Sunday.

Latest report,

The extent of the injuries incurred by Jorge Lorenzo in the opening MotoGP session have been assessed, after the Spaniard was subjected to an x-ray and examination at the Huashan hospital in Shanghai.

A chipped bone in his left ankle and pain in that of his left side are the consequences of a huge highside onboard his Fiat Yamaha M1. His upper body braced as he took the impact on his forearms, Lorenzo´s injuries have been limited to his lower body.

Whilst he did not ride in the afternoon session, it is possible that he will return to action on Saturday morning

Rossi seems super confident going into this race, hope Dani and Casey can make a fight of it on Sunday.

Vale will probably be running a heavier fuel load to get an optimum race set up or the track has changed temperature etc.

That was one hell of a crash by Lorenzo I'll be surprised if he does anything this weekend.

It's a shame if he doesn't race as had I thought about it I'd have put a tenner on Lorenzo winning the championship...no matter what, I'm convinced he'll be top 3 at the end of the season.

Yes, I have to admit it...I'm becoming a bit of a fan yikes

There's now doubts that George Lawrence will be racing. Hardly surprising when you view his highest of highsides. Ouch this has gotta hurt ....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sYFOmviJbpg

I saw the highside and read the morbid details about the injury. I'd be surprised if he [was allowed to] raced in that state.

The way he has been going this year I think he's just giving the others a break to try and get back into the Championship. Bit like giving someone a head start.

I would hate to be his teddybear, I imagine he (the bear) will be doing more than high-siding out of Georgie's cot tonight hehe

I'm sure that I said it on another thread. That the heroe kids of the 08 season will be a little de-tuned after their 1st visit to the hospital when one of these real bikes finally spits them up the road.
They have total faith in the electronics right up to the point that they regain consciousness.....

Lets see how fast he is upon his return ?

I wish him a speedy recovery as it is never nice being hurt.

Cheers

Blimey, that was one huge highside... I hope he's not too badly bashed about and gets back in the saddle soon.. I'm not a huge fan of his, but the kid's got talent, and it's fun watching the others try to up their game to compete.

Have to say... I watched the huge "off" that Lorenzo had on Friday in practice and for him to come back and take fourth is testiment to his comittment to the game... well done him and his team for catching the bike so that he did not have to put his feet down too early smile

Bl00dy good to see Rossi back on form also.. and sporting a new hair style (ok I am a girlie I notice these things even if he does bat for the other side

Fantastic race in my view

Lorenzo did a great job to get P4, agreed. Vale was superb.
But what makes you think VR bats for the other side? Aside from some disparaging remarks by some PHers. He recently said he misses his ex (girlfriend) but traveling so much made it impossible to have a decent relationship, and he would like to have a family one day. I am told by a friend, who was ex motogp mechanic, he rarely finished hi DJ set at the after party race as he got dragged off by female fans. (or am I missing something) Z

Sorry... I haven't listened to any disparaging PH remarks at all and I always form my own opinion. Like you, I have a friend who was on the circuit for a long time...

Enough said I think on that subject however, whether he does or whether he doesn't, that is entirely up to him and his partner, there is absolutely no denying that, to me, there is nothing that he cannot do on that bike!
