FOr th eplod on th esite:

If you were the Home secratary with the current limited resources.

Which offence is the *key* offence to crack down on if you want to improve road safety.

What would you change in the way the roads are policed?

Thats very simple..bad driving.
The offences would more than often be your everyday Without Due Care/Inconsiderate Driving together with the more serious offence of Dangerous Driving.

The only way to achieve this is to recruit more Traffic Police and ensure that each Traffic Garage puts out at least 5 unmarked cars...i guarantee that this would have an impact.

Ahhhhh. But if you were home sec you wouldn't have resources to do that. So... is cracking down on speeding a good substitute for detecting poor driving or would a new focus be better, given resources?

Most people on here's view would be that of insurance companies - speeding is irrelevant to your chances of claiming. [1]

Is that the professional's view?

[1] 6 points gives *no* loading according to my attempt at renewal yesterday...

I just think that the government are off on the wrong track and out to make an easy buck out of us....soft targets.

I look at it like gardening -

You have a patch covered in weeds and overgrown, if you pull out all the Without due cares, no insurances, no Driving Licences and while im at it , Stolen Cars...you will then be able to get an accurate view on the Speeding problem and deal with it accordingly.
