The Cerb’s up for an MOT in a week or so and I’m looking for a TVR friendly station.

The car is in perfect condition except what comes out of the exhausts and I’d really prefer not to have to be swapping cats on/off (they’re in the boot).

So, anyone have a friendly contact that’ll, err, put them on and take them off really quicklywink during the test.

Surrey / Southern M25 region preferred.

Thanks all – oh, probably best if you PM me with info.
Don.

I can't imagine any MOT tester fitting and removing cats during a test, apart from being illegal, it's not a quick job is it.

hey Don

I know of someone but is in Potters Bar so maybe too far, but he's a Cerbera owner himself and does Marks Cerb, as well as loads of others.

anyway I've sent you his details

Thanks for your input (Falcemob)... it's not illegal to remove/replace something from a vehicle on private property, different argument once it is on the road, but that's a different thread for another time which I don't want to get into here, just looking for some friendly advice / referal.

ETA - name in brackets + thanks to Tracy

Donny it is illegal, or at least not allowed by VOSA, (as the tester would lose his licence) to do any work on a car apart from headlamp adjustment where no tools are required during an MOT test. What you do to the car at any other time and in the privacy of your own homewink is as you say no one elses business.
Why not fit them yourself or take it for the test as is and see how it goes?

Couple of reasons, 1st off I'm a cheque book owner - I was very proud when I changed the brakelight switch and only removed a third of the skin of one of my fingers, so mucking around with the exhaust is a def no, no.

The other reason is that I kind of know it's going to fail on emmissions (no cats) but it hasn't as yet, thus giving me a moral right to giggle like a school girl when it pops & bangs & spits flames on the overrun; if i had it tested and it failed, I'd know and would lose the moral high ground (I'd still giggle though).

I know the latter is the lammest argument ever made, just telling the truth.

Well if it fails you could pay to have them fitted then pay to have them removed after the test. If it's anything like the last TVR I tested (a nightmare tbh) I wouldn't want to have to start peeing about with fitting bits to the exhaust before, during or after testing it.

Thanks all.

On the Cats on / Cats off debate, this is realy the core issue - if it's going to pass with the cats on and the MOT'er in his mechanic mode is going to be putting them on and taking them off pre and post test - err, why bother.

Why indeed, did you find someone willing to do all this?

Much easier to find a short sighted tester who may just happen to stick the probe in the wrong cars exhaust, quite common in my experience biggrin

I would be most grateful of the details of a Cerb friendly MOT tester, I am in the same situation as Don.
