Just noticed on the Porsche forum a mod off the PCGB forum has been forced to quit because of all the tales of 997 engine blow ups .Porsche may be threatening to withdraw their 150k a year support.Feel sorry for the guy he,s

1. There's not much truth in 'all the tales of 997 engine blow ups'. You make it sound as though it's a recall issue, which it is not.
2. Porsche have a tendency to honour their warranties.
My info comes from a friend who is a Porsche enthusiast and is well in with a local Porsche GB dealer and several indies. HE is very concerned about it ,anyway have to say this is all rather tenuous for a TVR forum.As for warranties theres more upsets than you might imagine.Oh BOXSTERS TOO .I posted here and not general gassing as I thought it may amuse some of those that had the mud flung at them in the past, keeping it close so to speak.Read the mans thread.

RMS failures are common and relatively expensive to fix as the gearbox has to come out. The parts are cheap enough but the whole job comes in at somewhere between £600 and £1000 with labour. IMO it's a bloody scandal that they break like that. I'd like to hang around and post some more, but I need to go and put my stering rack back in and fix the HCV pot again
