A friend of mine who takes great pride in his TVR in particular his engine bay had a bit of a problem before leaving Chatsworth. He'd had his bonnet open during the day to show his efforts in the engine bay area, when he went to close it just prior to leaving he only by chance noticed a plastic bottle which had been left on his manifold! WHAT fkIN' MORON WOULD DO SUCH A THING?!
PS; a worthy note to all I think, check your cars if left open at future events, though I fear it may put a lot off doing so as much more damage could be done. fkin' idiots!

Yes, I spoke to that person in the evening and posted elsewhere about it. What bothered me was the potential for fire, having been in one it tends to worry you.

I hope it was some pillock being thoughtless and nothing worse.

The only thing that really annoyed me on that day was the mobile speed camera on the duel carriageway between Chesterfield and junct 29 on the way back . Was being very careful anyway thank god but thought it a deliberate attempt to catch Tvr's in particular .

Is this a picture of the bottle ? or was there more than one,

I noticed it when I was looking through all the pictures,
( I did not make it this year due to having to work )
I was trying to make out what was covering the coil when I noticed it just behind the alternator, could have been nasty.

Don't be so paranoid... just normal Derbyshire policing as they'd have had the chopper mustered if they really wanted to play; trust mewink

And that bottle is nowhere near the manifolds... out of order and stupid but hardly life threatening rolleyes

That is a very nice looking chrome cover over the clutch reservoir. Are they available or was it made specially. I noticed at the weekend that mine (standard glass fibre) is looking a bit shabby around the edges.
And of course the rest of it looks very nice too.

Thanks Mac...and Dave,

Appreciate the thought on this topic, yes it was my car, I had dropped the lid and was just about to fire the car up when a WWM member said hold on steve did you take that bottle off you engine?

Not bleeting on about it just disappointed to be honest, as Dave rightly says a few miles down the road ..it melts drops on to the headers and jobs a good one....would have gone up like a torch....and if I had my little lad George strapped in his baby seat alongside me as opossed to Blaine...well to be honest I would rip the persons head off...and even if she did not catch fire then the mess would have meant shed loads of hours to put right...

hey ho best keep the bonnet shut in future.....

Still an excellant day out with good companyclap

Wasn't having a pop at you mate and can appreciate why you'd be peeved given the obvious hard work that's gone into your motor; it's just not crime of the century and there are far more real fire risks around any TVR than a stray plastic bottle being left by a jealous numbskull. I'm also glad you spotted it before it made a mess.

And to not show your work would be a shame, there's a huge amount of work gone into your car and it would be a shame not to see it all (and the others too that have done similar work).

Had the bottle stayed there, when the car was moved the bottle would have done too. It may have dropped to a harmless place, it may not. As I have said, having been in a severe car fire it's not something you wish on anyone.

Sorry mate, don't want to start falling out with people of like minded, but, it doesn't just stop there. Another good friend of mine who posts on here had his bike on show at the NEC bike show some time back. He had open bell mouths on his carbs, some fk pushed in a 'penny' and when he started it, BANG! One fked head. These tts should have it shoved up their arse!
Steve for one, and I for another will from now on keep the bonnets closed, it shouldn't have to be that way. Also, it IS life threatening, for them if caught. as for not being crime of century, well, hey, give 'em a house maybe and a holiday. The rot starts here.
