Been away for a couple of weeks and for added security removed the immobiliser key from under the dash. Went to start car yesterday and absolutely nothing! Battery is fine as it is on trickle charge and lights, horn etc all work. I've checked the ignition fuse in the boot which is OK. The best my local specialist could come up with, admittedly it was after lunch on a Saturday, was to wiggle the key about a bit, however, still no joy. I sit there pressing me little black button to no avail.

Must confess to being absolutely gutted as (i) never bothered removing the key before (and not sure why I did on this occasion) and (ii) car had just been waxed in readiness for a car show at Duxford!cry

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Remove the helmet hole cover and try wiggling the cables to the immobiliser.

Your problems may be there.

Does anything happen? Fuel pump prime or MIL light buzz?

If not then I would check the master key. If you have not used it you may have a bacd connection and it should be replaced.

I turned mine off all the time, took the key with me too. It wasnt until the end of my Cerbera ownership that this wasnt the norm!

Guys thanks very much for the tips.....

To answer Extra 300 Driver, absolutely nothing happens, fuel pump doesn't prime, no buzzer confused

So with many thanks to the rest of you I've tried opening the doors, windows and sounding the horn whilst holding the black button down. I've also sat there for 5 minutes with my thumb going numb (but thats a different story whistle

and finally having got my son to press the button there's no clicking from the ignition control box or the relay in the boot. I read from the earlier thread that this could point to the starter, the starter isn't all that old but then I realise that may not necessarily count for very much.

What seems to be a bizarre side effect is that now everybody in the house is getting ratty with me confused

Check the ignition relay in the fusebox (swap with one of the fan relays).

If you're getting absolutely nothing, I'd say its unlikely to be the starter motor, or immobiliser related. I'd guess at the electrical master switch (given that you've been messing with it), or the ignition circuit (inc. the steering wheel button).

It has to be the silver key, or something to do with it. does it twist in the housing, or could a wire at the back have come adrift?

Does the normal immobiliser key (the one you insert in the dash) work.

My remote failed on Saturday morning. All that I needed to do was pull the large plug out of the main alarm unit and it seemed to reset. Fob works fine now.

Nefarious you are an absolute star!! clap

Swapped over relays and it fired first time, thankyou so much

And a big thankyou to the rest of you, I take a little consolation from the fact that I'm not the only one to suffer from such a gremlin, but thanks ever so to all those that responded.

Oh and I won't be touching that immobiliser ket ever again!!!!
