Im thinking of getting one of these exhausts fitted to my 996.
Because I do quite a few track days, I was wondering if anyone who has one has had the noise level checked and what Db output were they getting.

Would like the Fabspeed because it sounds better IMO but I dont want to be too loud for somewhere like Bedford autodrome.(101/102 db)

Help appreciated.

Several of the guys who go to the PCGB track days use the Porsche system as it has a switch that makes it as quiet as standard. So you can use the full sound at loud track days & switch over for Bedford etc. But as you would expect it's a lot more than a Fabspeed.

problem is apparently that because mine is a 2000 model, the switch wont work, so I really need to find out wht those levels are.

Thanks anyway.

Peter..have a look at www.rennlist.com I don't know about the Carrera, but there is certainly a comprehensive test on 996TT exhausts in the turbo thread, complete with DB levels & this included Fabspeed. It would at least give you an idea.Best of luck.

I went through this lark when i had my 996..
The Porsche exhaust is probably the best way to go in terms of resale etc...
After market you can fit the exhaust ok,but there is a seperate wiring loom for the sports noise on / off switch.
I am led to beleive a sports exhaust can be fitted in 2 hours, apparently the switch wiring etc takes 10 hours!!...Work that one out at the labour rate used by your OPC.

I looked hard at fabspeed,,i got leads from Rennlist as Grant mentioned.
I was put off of the fabspeed as i got the impression that the quality was no where near that of the porsche item you are replacing, also there seem to be quite a few cases of resonance and boom at different rev levels.
I have seen a couple of used fabspeed for sale in the UK,on both occasions I missed them they were sold. However, when I asked the sellers what they thought, they were both selling as they didn't like/need the sound and occasional vibration.

I sold the car before i fitted an exhaust, but i would either go with Porsche sports without the wiring loom or a RUF.
I sold the car before i had the chance to fit a sports e

I have a Fabspeed on my 993 C4 along with the same company's airbox with K & N.
I love the sound and think the quality is excellent.
I am also in my late 40's so do not like some loud exhausts on other cars.
