Did this race yesterday...

http://www.maxadventure.com.au/dirtworksclassic

100km, beautiful scenery, great sunny weather and a beer handed to you on the finish line.

However, about 40km seemed to be rock garden, and the other 60km was either straight up or straight down. The river crossings were fun - the first was on a raft bridge about 18" wide that wobbled a lot, and the second was a ride through but because of recent rains was about waist deep.

But it was the rocks that got me - climbing and decending steps, trails strewn with small boulders and a seemingly inexhaustable supply of jumps up and down. Had the rear shock on soft for about 80% of the race. Everyone on a hard tail suffered enormously.

Time? Well, the winners came in about 4h40, and I took about 6h30. Good fun.

Holy moses! Thats quite a ride you've done there, congrats!!!!

I was knackered form a 15 mile road ride earlier! Saying that, I've gone alot further off road and road riding sucks butt on a 140mm travel full sus all mountain thing so I suspect I was more interested in doing something more interesting rather than being completely pooped but anyways WELL DONE!!

That's hardcore looks good though and a great challenge. I ache after a mere nine or so miles at UKBIKEPARK but I can't be sure if it's my cold, the riding or the uplift vehicles that have caused that smile

Well Done. Had you done a lot of training before doing that?

Thanks for the comments - as for training, did a little bit... Managed a couple of 80km training rides and riding to work give me plenty of day-to-day training.

Oh, and the winner took 4h09, which kinda puts it all in perspective!
