Sagaris LCD Display

What is the problem with these displays? Mine has been perfect until this morning, can't read it, thought it was completely gone but it is actually functioning if viewed in the shade (yes it is sunny in Aberdeen today!)

Assume it is the backlight that has gone, is there a menu option or does it require replacing?

Hi Neil,

I had the same problem on my T350 last year. The backlight just died on the way to Germany. I had to replace the complete LCD unit.

Hi Konrad, thanks for information. I did see a thread relating to this. I assume you replaced it yourself? Where did you buy the LCD from?

I got my display from Farnell. Some facts about it:

• It's an "old style" LCD, i.e. green background, black writing (I think it matches the green LCDs around the dials quite nicely).
• It's not readable when it's too cold - it needs time to "warm up". (I replaced it in early Summer, so I didn't notice until Autumn).
• I needed to solder a 20 pin and a 3 pin connector into the new LCD module.
• Replacement is fairly simple: You need an allen key, a screw driver, and a heat bonding (? - from the German-English dictionary) gun.

Hi Conor,

the replacement LCD I got from Farnell is a Varitronix MGLS24064-02C (MGLS24064-G-STD2-LED03). Make sure it has a backlight (a few mm thicker than the one without - they sent the wrong one on their first try).

Please read the whole thread because that display DOES NOT work properly, you're wasting your money in my opinion. £80 down the drain.

It is totally unreadable for 20 minutes until it 'warms up' and then very slowly fades into view.

Automedon are getting the proper LCDs in, this week they told me. Circa £130.
