look on internet on DVLA. There you find the info.
i drove mine to sweden but i used uk plates but swedish insurance.
dvla also sends export papers etc. make sure to keep thye V5C and dont send it to the dvla in the uk as you would do if you as uk citizen.

thank you very much.

I was thinking about driving it with UK plates as well, but what about the customs... Wondering if they will check the papers when i put the car on the ferry or train.
In that case they will see that it is not registered...

I will check the DVLA. Thank you very much.

If i remember correctly,it will have to be registered on Dutch plates, prior to it entering Holland.

even worse... before you can put it on a dutch plate you have to change some things like the headlights... they have to point to the right and not the left and probably some other things as well... but gues these things are easy to change because there are LHD chimearas.... and than after paying the special BPM tax.... based on the original selling price in the netherlands you get the plates...
(original selling price...??? they have never been sold in the netherlands... great system..... pffffffffff)

i think first, have to do the Pre-Purchase inspection... and if things look like i hope, make sure it gets here!!

check the headlights, mine had euro spec (beam the right direction)
rear fog light and reverse light may have to change position.
speedometer have km/h and miles/hour in sweden it can only be km/h, tvr sell new speedos.
emissions and sound level can also be a problem
hand brake is normally not so good.

customs dover - calais for example did not say anything. bring your reciept and v5c paper that you are the registred keeper.

check if you buy private that the car is not stolen or have finance on it. you might end up returning the car without getting your money backfrown

thanks very much! i think i will do this external pre-purchse inspection... specially for rust, leakage and so on but i think they will do history check as well and otherwise i will do it! This finance on the car that is an interesting one... never heard that before. good idea to check that!

I called the DVLA when I got mine - they said they have no export plates but apparently that's not a problem in the UK as log as the car is insured and taxed. The seller drove it to Harwich for me to pick up, anyway. At the Hoek I just chanced it, given that it was the night before Christmas Eve just before midnight with only half an hour's worth of driving to my parent's house where I was going to store the car for the time being, and I reckoned the Marechaussee in the right lane of passport control wouldn't be too interested in BPM issues anyway...wink

I got 'Sporttimer' insurance (limited mileage policy for specialist cars which are not used for business; proof of having a 'first'/daily car needed) for my Chim at Europeesche through a broker; the Cerbera is eligible for this too. I even got a green card on the UK reg.wink

Hi - send me a private mail and I will tell you about my experience. It is simple - apart from one thing.

Another Cerbera coming to the Netherlands. Think that makes it 10 here now.

Cheers, Andrew

Hi Guys

when I bought my Cerbera in UK and exported it to Germany I had the Incurance on my name and the adress of the seller. It was covered by "Temporary Cover Note & Certificate of Motor Insurance" by Norwich Union Insurance Limited. With this contract, the sales contract and the taxplate I left UK passed France and Belgium entred Germany. There was no controll at any border and everything was fine.

Regards

Johannes
