Hi all, rad has bad leak. where can i buy one, or is it possible to repair it.
If so, would you advise to have a extra core fitted.
I have heard you can do this, is this possible.
MANY THANKS
PUN.

Hi,
It should be a Discovery or Range Rover V8 rad,
maybe someone knows which one exactly, as there are some different types.
It is also possible to repair it.
If the price for a new one does not sound to high, go for a new one.
Steve advises in the Bible to keep system always in top condition and leave it
as is for not overcooling engine, in case you do not race your Griff.

cheers,

Martin

If you have a reasonable water stat fitted, working correctly, you could have a rad the size of Wales and not over cool your car. Often cool temp readings are down to the guage, not the car running cool. Go ally rad with a good warranty !!

A recore to a 3 core matrix is about 1/3rd the cost of an ally rad. The rad is not the same as a Disco/Range Rover/LDV Sherpa but is based on the general design. These other rads are slightly different with extra pipe work or outlets in the wrong place but can be made to fit at extra cost and time. Easiest thing is to get the original re-cored. Yellow pages will reveal your local rad specialist.

You could buy a used one and have it recored while still driving your car, then change it yourself. Saves a couple of "off the road days" and you have a spare if you wish.
Ebay search "TVR Radiator", returns two.

Ally rads have problems too, hence the comment about a good warranty expect to pay around £400. A re-core should cost between £100 and £125.

You pays your money and takes your choice.

Cheers,

Simon.

Recore is the way to go. Current cores used are larger and as such are better and workout cheaper than a new one.
Mine cost £182 12 months ago.
