I've been told buy the guys who serviced my elise that the discs/pads need changing (cars done 19.5k miles, that normal?) so i'm looking around for which to go for. I'm on a bit of a tightish budget.
Gonna go for EBC turbo grooved discs, and have just noticed these very cheap pads ont'Ebay.

Im guessing there not that great, but if there similer to standard I wouldnt really mind.

Any experiances?

19k will mean the pads are completely shot

Don't know if the OMP are any good but at that price I doubt it. most people recommend mintex 1144 for road use.

Mintex 1144s have been good for me, I'd stick with something tried and tested instead of trying to go for the cheapest - it's the brakes after all!

That can't be right 19k and pads shot? what about the discs, surely they are up to the job eh? (currently at 16k, and getting worried now!!!)

should get more than 19k from the discs, mine did 28k plus whatever mileage they had done before I bought the car.

Don't forget that the brakes are going to be pretty abused in an Elise/Exige, more so than in a "normal" car. Unless of course you drive everywhere like Miss Daisy - but then what would the point of having an Elise/Exige be? smile

Had mine changed at 18k. Maybe the previous owner was a bit heavy footed though...

On my first S1, I changed the wasted originals for a set of cheapish Greenstuff pads and thought they were great. Looking back I reckon they seemed so good because of the condition of the originals... rolleyes

Now tried 1144's and realised the difference is immense. To be fair, good brakes improve the car's feel so much that its not an area I try to save money in now...

New front disks at 17K and new rears at 19k on my 111R, looks like there's a pattern forming

The Pagid RS14 or RS42 are also highly rated when matched to turbo grooved discs

What about with standard disks, i have Pagids (Blue) and think they are pretty crappy, they have a tendency to lock.

Well I've decided to go for EBC turbo grooved discs and mintex 1144 pads.

Realised I need to stop being such a tight bd! They just better be good!

I don't think you'll be disappointed, remember to bed them in at first. (Something I learnt about after I hadn't!)
Good choice on the balance of price/performance/usage I reckon.

Quick question as i'm looking at pads at the moment - What's wrong with the greenstuff pads? I thought they had a good reputation?

Tried the EBC pads, absolute ste.

Swapped them within a week to Pagids, superb.

In summary, EBC = False Economy
