A fellow riverbank dweller has aquired a FPN for crossing double white lines.

However the young plod has written the offence code as 665.

Just to be clear in the first part of Section A it reads:
Offence Code: 665 E3 Contravene double white

He quite keen to squirm out of this one. Can one of the site BinB comment on his chances of using this to get out of it?

Ive written the wrong code on a couple of times over the years and it hasnt made any difference at all.

When you look at the facts, your mate was obviously told that he was being reported for the correct offence and the evidence written on the Officers part of the ticket will (should) corroborate that fact too.

All correct. He was told verbally what he was being done for.

If you were trying to wiggle off this one what the best way to get out of it?

I'd be tempted to write to the chief constable pointing out the flaw and make it clear I would be going to court in the hope that he doesn't feel it's worth taking a rozzer off the road to go to court.
I get the impression that the police don't like wasting their time in court.

He's reluctant to get the rozzer in question in trouble though.

Is there a way out of this?

Any idea what 665 is?

To be honest ive got no idea..i thought that it only went up to 510 and that these new Insurance ones will start from 600.

Sadly im not at work for the next 3 weeks so hopefully one of the other BiB can assist.

You could certainly write a letter of complaint pointing out the fact but personally, i cant see it doing anything.

Thanks Tony! (mate passes on thanks too)

Dounno if the letter will be as inneffective as you think. Here's an extract:

"PC Smith appeared to have been drinking heavily but when this was pointed out he becames abusive".

;-) ;-) ;-)
