BMW 745i Warning Light

Hey Guys, i have recently began running a 745i (52 Plate) and this morning had an error light appear... the one thats orange and looks like an engine.... says in the manual something to do with emissions.... Does anyone have any more information?

I had this on my 535, took it to the garage and they hooked it to diagnostic nothing wrong, this carried on for a bit until they tracked it down to a leaking air pipe, got this replaced and touch wood has been fine since.

Apparently this can also be caused by the Maf (?) sensor.

So nothing expensive and serious then.....

I get a PDC Error too sometuimes then the next day its gone..... very buggy at times these cars it seems.

The emissions thing is a bit misleading - in truth it could be anything but is likely to be some sort of sensor. Get the fault codes read.

tip. if u r a AA or RAC member call them out sayin that the car wont stat or something. they will tell u the fault codes 4 free. most places charge £100 and upwards an hour. doin this has saved me over a thosand pouns. any questions e mail me. [e-mail]

Usually the oxygen sensors in the tail pipe getting
a bit over excited because the engine's been running
a bit too rich.

I usually find a few minutes of getting the engine
to bounce off the rev limiter a few times sorts the problem out.

I usually stick it in third and go for an "interesting"
ride out.

Quick update for you.... The Engine light has now gone out.......

But i'd like to pic up on what was said..... I do have a what can only be described as fan belt whistling noise coming from the engine after the cars been run for about 15 mins, only at idle and no revs though, any revs and the noise dissapears, is this the same thing you were referring too early....Buffly ?????
