Where can I order a K&N filter
Discussion
if a panel filter get it from the US for about 1/2 the price a lot of UK dealers will charge.

only 45$ + carriage for example - I bought mine in UK from "local dealer" without checking first and paid nearly 80 quid!!

you on about an panel filter?
No, either round or tappered filter, still undecided
Gelf, Why do you want one? Is it to replace a worn out, dirty old one or are you hoping it will let the engine breathe alittle easier and gain a few extra HP etc...?
If it is the latter, then you'd be better putting your money in a jar and start saving for a serious mod instead. I spent a £££ on a K&N for my last car. NO difference. if you read the literature the extra few bhp are mainly released when max air flow is required - ie at max rpm. and who drives a V8 round at the redline all day?
IMHO stock filters for stock cars are good enough, otherwise why put them on if they are going to be that easily detrimental to BHP output?

Ordered online from www.rotaryart.uk.com
They even tell you the BHP rating of the filters, K&N don't
K&N Filter RU-2800 435BHP NA £36.98
K&N Filter RU-3020 568BHP NA £44.21
Not sure whether this is rated RW or FW HP, if its RW then the stock filter with about 70% of the area of the ru-2800 is good for 304BHP and is on the button, my dyno results were 303BHP@RW, but seeing as were in the UK, I suspect this is FW BHP rating.

I experimenting to get the engine to breathe, the stock intake has a large restriction, around 8-10 kPa down from atmospheric pressure at WOT. Parts from the US have arrived, adaptation of the hardcore intake, I'm going to try and squeeze in a 5" CAI from lower front grill to TB. I have two options for air filter location, which in both cases I wont to seal with custom filter enclosure, same as wortec location or inside the wheel arch hardcore. Fabricating the enclosure will be the hard part, I'd like to be able to use some sort of mouldable (after putting in the oven) polyurathane which can also be welded using a heat gun?? Then theres always aluminium, not really worried about the cost, its the challange of doing it myself.
I have managed to squeeze a 5" Intake under the bonnet, it rubs on the bonnet thou, and squeezed a 5" CAI to the lower front grill, not too pretty at the moment, need to spay everything black and make the custom sealed filter housing from fibre glass kit. I not into bling thou..First impressions, its much louder than the wortec under load, hopefully the filter box will tone it down, was not the reason for installing, but makes me smile.
I marginally lost torque at bottom and mid range (efilive del trq), how ever when comparing lowest, average and highest logged kPa with the stock and 5" intake, the new intake records higher readings (closer to atmospere, less restriction), and logs atmosperic pressure at WOT
Before BARO = 101kPa, WOT = 92kPa
After BARO = 102kPa, WOT = 101kPa
The new intake needs to be remapped to take advantage of the changes of the inlet restriction, work in progress

was that with or without a remap for the new filter Gelf?
Thats was straight after bolting it on, remap to follow now I have developed a method to tune spark, details on efi forumI dare say I could chase a fatter torque curve, pick up a few ponies if I wanted to but I've tuned fueling around the hsv clubsport table, I'd have thought your stock table was quite optimum being hsv's (I know they are quite aggressive though)

I want to varyfy my handing work at Vixpy's, but getting him to tune spark kinda defeats the object of purchasing efilive, and i think that would only be at WOT, my process tunes individual cells to optimum spark

?? you would do the tuning in conjuction with him! He has the dyno and the afr you have the tool and the laptop
I'm considering the fast90 thats up for sale and an nice induction kit (just for the noise) and now that VE was optimum for my setup I'll just let STFT and LTFT do the rest
I havn't enquired about dyno time, but 35-40 notes for 20 - 30 mins at an RR day, i'm sure its not cheap, with an LS1 and Road Runner where you can change spark and AFR on the fly at fixed rpm and load, its probably viable, this isn't possible with the LS2 as far as I know. 4 hrs dyno time might tweak WOT timing, but it would involve making minor adjustment, upload cal, power run, compare, upload cal, power run, compare etc. I want to optimise tune for the entire map.
