Aftermarket exhaust?
Discussion
either ship from Oz/US or have your local fabricator make one up if you want to do it on the cheap. Failing that speak to one of the sponsors on here but as an example you can buy a 3" exhaust, cats and headers all in stainless from Oz for the price of the Wortec catback alone. Number of US suppliers also do stainless systems from around 5-600 before shipping etc. Only thing is US headers as a rule wont fit due to the steering being on the wrong side so no cheap headers from there
Mark at Rapid was also doing Capa and Di Filippo exhausts. I'm one of those few cars that currently has the Miltek exhaust but mine included sports cats (04 cv8) and it sounds and flows way better than stock but quieter than the Wortec

so what exhaust do you have now? interested because the Miltek cats dont bolt onto anything else - although they go from the standard headers to what looks like the same spot as stock they actually don't meet up in line and need some fettling to bolt up to anything in the stock positions. Oh and for your MOT problem speak to Mark at RapidGB - last chat I had with him he has a method of adjusting tunes to pass the test. Saves a lot of unbolting bits on and off the car.
I went for a Corsa Sport system (ironic name) from the US, purely for the sound, although I noticed when fitting it has a different configuration at the front of the system, more like an X than an H...Darn cheap, sounds the mutts nuts (imho of course) and will release a few more ponies once it's been to see Mr F for a remap (and a 9psi upgrade???). So far so good. Paid Kwik Fit chaps £60 to fit it and jobs a good 'un.
