My 420 ran out of fuel when the guage showed 1/4 tank. It's got the twin alley tanks - if these have the standard sender maybe this is why. Does anyone else suffer from this i.e. is it a case of "they all do that sir".

I've head lots of complaints about Wedge fuel guages but I don't seem to be affliceted.

My fuel guage is fairly linear, doesn't bounce around and when it gets to empty I fill it up!

I always fill mine up when the gauge reads 1/2 full.

Takes anywhere between £15 and £25 of optimax. SHould probably get it looked at sometime.

In theory if you fill from empty it should take £50 !!

When mine reads ~=1/4 empty I get around GBP30.00 Super Unleaded in it (after several stops & restarts to let the fuel level out in both tanks (one filler only) - Streaky

That'll help the range I get from a single tank!

I have got £46 of optimax in mine. I take the veiw that if the needle stops bouncing I have got about 30 miles left. If the needle is bouncing it's anyones guess! Never run out yet........

Flippin heck you're brave, £46 must have left a range of about 5 miles in the tank provided you didn't take any corners..

Go on then!
What is the capacity of a Wedge fuel tank in Litres and is there any variation between models ?

I'm interested - Honest!

Interesting question Duncan. I've got some Wedge fuel tanks in the garage (don't ask). The alley on is huge compared with the steel jobs and looks quite different to the alley one's (two off) on the SEAC. Guess the answer is that the Wedge tanks varied. I'm pretty sure the majority had the twin steel tanks with specials (2+2, early SEACs, SEAC, etc) having different items.
Capacity - no idea. My 420 - run out of fuel - £31 to fill (loads of patients/rocking the car to level the tanks)thus about 35 litres total

Filled up on A303 coming back from round trip Farnham, Surrey to Rowberrow, Somerset. Gauge read a tad below 1/4 full and it took 40 litres to being just in view in the filler pipe - Streaky

Can never get more than 12 quids worth in mine before the pump clicks off. Makes for a lot of trips to the petrol station!! I suppose if my guage is faulty I could be just topping it to full all time
