Help! - Fans not turning off

Hi all, got the MOT done today all good no probs there, but once I had returned home and switched the engine off the fan on the drivers side stayed on. I thought it was a bit strange as it had not happened before but thought as the water temp was at 96-98 I'd give it 15mins. Just checked again and temp down to 60 but fan still on.
Any idea's?

INFO FOR SAG try swapping yellow relay from R03 (Heated rear window) in place of fan relay R51 the R53;

sounds like poss relay contacts welded together

Is that not the trinary switch failing?

Thanks for advice, I had already taken the fuse out to stop the fan so just been out and swapped it over with the 03 Heated rear windsreen. The fans have not kicked in so it seems to have fixed it but obviously cant test if they are going to come on until the next drive. I'm not that technical I'm afraid so...

a) is this swap a perm fix, or do I need a new fan relay ?
b) what is the trinary switch?

Yes agree with engine off with ignition on.

To check this

1 is mid pressure
2 is low and high pressure feed
3 is return for low/high
6 is ground

un plug then on harness 1 to 6 ground, should then stop

Cheap and easy dealer fix


Also possible that aircon part discharged

a) permanent fix, just replace the rear screen relay tvr part no. M0643(the yellow relays ones are all the same)

b) trinary switch is for aircon (see my post above but its a bit techie) dealer if its that
