Stereo problems

Hi fellas, just got my 2.5 back from Plans but now can't operate the stereo from the steering column. They had replaced the crank sensor, but I also noticed that if I just lightly touch the fuse box by the air filter the engine tries to stall. Sounds like a new fuse box required, but could it be related to the stereo? Any suggestions welcome, it's a surpisingly annoying problem, even with my gibbon-like arms.

Give Plans st, make them come and get the car and fix their shoddy work or make them come to you to fix it, either way it's their problem, cancel the payment if you can!

I had a really weird one with the stereo after a service. Just wouldn't play ball. I just took out the CD changer, turned the car off a few times, and it worked again. Never found out why....

Are all the fuses/relays in there snug and happy and without corrosion (and in the correct places)? I also noticed the wiring is quite tight and doesn't like being pulled out too far when I removed the fuse box to inspect it - can't imagine they'd have any need to actually remove the fuse box for a service though.....

Same here. My stereo didn't work at all after having it's MOT done (new rear light bulbs) and turbo oil pipe repalced.
I had a look at the fuse...all OK. I unscrewed the cover to take out the stereo, as it dropped down slightly the power came back on to it and it's been fine since!
The power connector must have been loose but why it powered off at the same time as the MOT and not in the 2 1/2 months i've owned it I don't know!

Stereo (what an old fashioned name!) is unsupported in the Noble (ie: no frame/cage) so can cause poor connections as the rear can move up/down - design also puts undue stress on the plastic front panel.

Have been meaning to rig up a bracket from the rear of the unit upwards to stop this but then it is difficult to disconnect quickly so is on the same list as those shelves...

Did that ages ago, didnt like the idea of a passenger getting the head unit in the face if i had an accident.

Sounds like my weekend is already planned! Will pop the unit out first to see that the plugs are in ok. Could just be coincidence that it was with Plans at the time. Worth a quick look before it goes back to them I think.

the steering column controller is only a 2 wire conection from the back of the head unit and is a blue connector on the right as you look at it.if that helps.but sounds like a cable down to earth,ie trapped or scored
