Hello everyone,

Anyone ever have their security/RPM limiter light come on during driving in a flickering/flashing kind of way in a Toyota engined Elise or Exige? Starts happening as a result of vibtration from the car (either braking/accelerating or bumps on the road) and flickers for a good while.

Seems to be some sort defective contact/loose connection somewhere, but where?

When I get close to the limiter, the light comes on at full strength, so that seems unaffected.

Any ideas?

Cheers Phil

Had this in my MY05 111R. Did not seem to have an effect on the car's performance in any way, but equally I sold the car before getting it sorted.

Good to hear I'm not the only one that's had (having) this problem...

Anyone any ideas what could be the cause? I could call up my local dealer for advice, but if it's something small, would rather do it myself....

thanks!

Had the same problem with my sportsracer. Had no direct influence on performance but I was a bit worried that I would not be able to detect a real problem when there would be any. Went to Bell & Colvill who remapped ECU, problem sorted since.

Intervention ws covered by warantee. Def. ECU problem.

Spoke to my local dealer on the phone this morning.

Apparently, it could also be the knob that is for disconnecting the power from the battery in the boot that may not be properly tightened and should be checked. As I had not used the car for nearly 6 months over winter and disconnected the power during that time, it could very well be that. Will have to check when I take the car out again.

Cheers Phil

Yes. Had exactly the same thing. 2006 111R. It was a loose battery post.

Just thought I'd give this topic a bump to confirm that in my case, it was indeed the connector to the battery that wasn't tightend properly. No flickering anymore. smile

Cheers and thanks to all for the help!
