Hope someone can help.
I have recently been lying under my car to correctly adjust the handbrake from under the heat shield.
While i was there I noticed that on the inside of the offside rear hub there was traces of oil, on closer inspection it seems to be coming from the lower end of the drive shaft (oil drop accumulation)- there is no oil on the shaft its self so it not running down from the diff?
So question is where would the oil come from? I have change cv joints in the past (not on TVR's) using various greases but never oil? Can any one shed any light on the possible cause source of the oil?
Many thanks

Ian

I would have said the only fluids at a rear corner are brake fluid, cv grease and wheel bearing grease. Sometimes if the cv and wheel bearing grease is hot or old it can slightly separate, the grease goes thick and oil separates out. Is there a small hole or split in the cv boot or does the wheel bearing feel rough? Happy hunting.

Humm - no brake fluid leak and the bearings seem fine, there is also no visible sign of a split in the cv boot? Guess I will have to do some investigate work?
