Alpina Roadster S Engine
Discussion
I have just put a deposit down on a 2004 Alpina Roadster S. Everything looks fine except for it has had it's running in service done at 2800 miles rather than 1200 miles. Is this a big problem for the car (forget the warranty possibly being voided) as I don't want to pay all that money otherwise.
(Posted under BMW General also, just wanted to see if I got any different answers)
Thanks

Do these engines use a thinner running in oil like other high performance beemers? Could be expensive down the line - premature big end wear, new tappets, camshafts, crank....
The thing to remember is that neglecting an early oil service tells you more about the first owner than the car - is someone who'll cheerfully double the recommended first service interval likely to let the engine warm up before he thrashes it, check the oil regularly and make sure it gets serviced on time?
It's hard to tell at fairly early mileages, I guess it depends on how long you want to keep it...
