race tec?

the boxster is gone and i'm on the lookout for another elise ;-)
seen a couple i like one is described as a rece tec model? i cant find any info on this , what does it mean (02 reg)

the race tech was a more stipped out model - no carpets, no double footrest, no driving lights. I think it was meant to be lighter.

Nope was an option people paid for..... not much different to early S2 spec though

Rare colour on S1's and not added until much later on S2's.

Managers at Lotus were stopped having them on S1's due to resale problems......

I'm suprised by that, I'd have an Chrome orange S1 when I was looking but I only ever saw one for sale. Bit more common on Exiges by the look of it.

They had a lava orange at launch but that was not that nice.....

I left Lotus only a few months into S2 delivery and I can remember no more than a handful.....

whats lava orange like compared to chrome orange? there is one on auto trader but its a long way from me and dont really want a wasted trip? so when was chrome orange an option on s2's i'm after a late 02 to 04 model (short tail) and need one pretty soon as am getting fed up of getting soaked on the bike (KTM........see why i want orange!!!!)

Kinda ironic really... managers stopped from having Orange cars for resale, yet these days it's one of the more popular colours. Chrome Orange on S1 Exiges has to be the most sought after colour there is out there. Can't fathom why as it's never done anything at all for me. Titanium or Mustard (Spice) Yellow for me thanks!

Chrome Orange is an S1 colour (incl S1 exige)

IIRC Lava Orange ran from Launch until the 111s launch I think..... after that all oranges were dropped and calypso red became ardent red etc etc. Never liked it was really wishy washy after the strong chrome orange - the pic above is a touch kind as I remember..... I wasn't a fan

Can't recall orange being offered until the 111R got updated and orange was once again added (mainly as it was popular on the S2 exige). What I recall it was extreme/lifestyle paint and stupidly expensive Only recently called Chrome orange again....

Now they have the rather lush lambo pearl Burnt orange then again Lava may not be dissimilar and time may have been kind !


My advice is you won't find what you're after - buy a mechanically sound scruffy car and spray it "your" colour
