mr2 turbo clutch problem?

right here goes...
just became the pround owner of a 1997 rev4 today and on the spirited drive home i have noticed that if im stopped in traffic and surpress the clutch im getting almost what sounds like a grinding noise? any ideas? also if im changing gear as if i was slowing the car down using the gears im getting a clunk but generally only going from 4th to 3rd and worse again 3rd to 2nd???
any ideas lads.

your clutch pressure plate is on the way out (IMHO)
you'll be looking at a £300 to £400 job to replace the clutch.

damn beaten to it, agreed, clutch plate,. take the op do a get an decent one put in.

Greddy clutches are going for about a hundred on ebay
