As a relative newbie I'm still much quicker thro twisties behind the wheel rather than holding bars. Still developing my confidence and skills. Just wondered if I was alone and how long it takes to get there?
Same as you, I'm afraid. I'd imagine it takes different people different lengths of time to get better: it's a practical skill and improves with practice, just like playing the piano. Similarly, I'd imagine some natural talent greater than mine helps as well!
Keep at it, think about what you're doing and why and you'll gradually get better. Although I know it can feel a bit
sometimes...I was having a chat about this with a mate last night, the more congested the roads get the quicker a bike becomes.
My drive home is across salisbury plain' 10 years ago I hardly saw another car, these days there's no point overtaking because you'll only piss everybody off and get stuck behind the car in front, unless you're on the bike of course..

In general, my maximum speed on the road is about the same and if the road is clear then I'm about as quick in the car through the twisties as I am on the bike. But the instant acceleration of the bike (compared to the "sluggish" 5ltr Chimaera) means that I get to my cruising speed much sooner thus the bike is significantly quicker from A to B.
I think if the question was about ability / control ..
My answer would be about even..
Car :
Can : Cadence brake, control front or rear skid, know when not to brake accelerate hard, not panic under pressure, excellent observation skills.
Bike :
Can : excellent observation skills, control wheelie / stoppie and wheel spin, not panic under pressure, know when not to make progress.. and know when it's not a biking day and take the car
(Any day with snow)

(Any day with snow)An alternative question could be: are you faster in your car, relative to the car, or faster on the bike, relative to the bike?
A new rider on a GSXR1000 will still be faster (in pure time/distance terms) than a lot of drivers in a hot hatch, etc purely due to the bike, however, I'd guess the new rider would be able to extract 70% of their car's potential, versus perhaps only 40% of the bike's potential?
I'd say I am quicker on a bike (even though I race cars), although I only ride on circuits these days. Indeed, if I ever go back on the road, I will get a 1200GS to stop me ending up in prison or hospital...
