And no, this is not a lame excuse to post a "for sale" before you ask!
I've just no idea what to value this at.
It's pretty spotless and bulletproof and goes like it looks. There's only one similar in the classifieds that I can see and it's asking stupid money. Realistic appraisals (based on photo's - not ideal but assume the engine/box etc 100%) if you could cast your eyes over this:

Also, where would be the best place to sell? Owners club website over here is a bit quiet (JEC).

Thanks!

I couldn't see any details of the car. The linked page seems to be taking for ever to load but I could only see pictures on it.

There is a massive difference between the values of the Mk2 2.4, the Mk2 3.4, the Mk2 3.8 and the 240 and 240 models. Then what sort of gearbox is it, auto (cheapest) manual or manual with overdrive. What's the mileage, how many owners and is it a matching numbers car. Real Jag nuts will probably want to know things like the chassis number and engine number.

For ads try looking at jagads and at classiccarsforsale

http://www.jagads.co.uk and also http://www.jagads.com they are two different sites.
http://www.classiccarsforsale.co.uk/

There are usually loads of Mk2s listed on there.

You might also try asking questions in the "Yesterday's heros" section of PH

Thanks for that - here's the details:

Light Metallic Blue
3.8 Ltr engine
Overdrive
PowerSteering
Cream Leather
Walnut Dash
Complete rebuild in 1999 with thorough photographic record
Only 69000 miles (believed accurate - MOTs and Certificates certainly back this up).
No rust (the car lives in Dublin - we don't salt our roads)
Garaged

It comes complete with a full photographic record of the rebuild and more recent bills / receipts from Dickenson Jaguar are available(Derek Dickenson is a long estableished Jag Enthusiast Club recommended Mechanic).
The original reg plate is an interesting one too - 666 COU.

Well 3.8MOD cars are at the top of the value tree.

I'd go through all the online ads you can fined to get some ideas from them.

That is lovelier than a lovely thing. I have £100 in my wallet, would you consider this a fair price?

I'll be honest and tell you that I have no idea what it's worth, but...
If I win the lottery this Saturday I'll have it off you at any price.
A truly curvy car. Love the colour.
And - having bought it I'd have to have a suit made in matching fabric.
Now there's a way to turn up to your ex-girlfriends wedding : )

It looks good from the photos but would a close inspection turn anything bad up?
I would look around at prices of similar cars and then go for on of the free ads on the JEC website and magazine or if you re not in to much of a hurry write an article about it and the magazine would love it, they are always short of good stories.

If you go the JEC or even Classic Jag World route I would price it at the highish end and see how it goes for a month or so then adjust it accordingly.

If you are in a hurry then ebay may be a good bet but beware of the time wasters and scammers, or alternatively I have £2K sitting here waiting.wink

Thanks everyone - I wish it was mine but it's the in-laws, they've a small collection and are trimming it down (keeping a Silver Shadow and an S-type as daily car). They're a bit old for the internet thing so I'm posting the ad when it finally goes up.
We've looked at similar ads and I think it's going to go up at ~£23000 stg (there are no horrors lurking - it had a bare metal rebuild in 99 and has been well maintained since).
Thanks again folks - appreciate you comments and suggestions smile
