Been having few problems with brakes gripping the disks after driving for a few miles.

If i leave car on a very slight incline in neutral the car doesnt move/roll, as though the calipers arent releasing correctly but doesnt grip enough to feel its a problem when the car is driving.

Came to a head for a few seconds last week, when i set off and the brake pedal travelled straight to the floor!Managed to stop eventually, pumped the pedal slightly and the brakes returned, i managed to drive all the way home from Kirby Lonsdale to Halifax with no problems.

Some say servo, some say brake hoses, and some say calipers.

Any ideas please

Pedal going to the floor usually means either a catastrophic leak in the system (clearly not the case if your brakes started working ok after this, and assuming you are not losing fluid?) or more likley master cylinder seals although again this usually causes a sagging pedal under sustained foot pressure rather than sudden loss of resistance.

The possible brake binding / dragging could be due to an air leak in the servo allowing a partial loss of vacuum on the actuation side of the servo piston despite no pedal pressure. However if the brakes were binding, even slightly, I would expect you would notice very hot discs with possible colour changes and a small of hot brakes after driving any distance.

IMO, your failure was due to boiling the fluid hence air in the master cylinder and you answer your own question, when the car will not roll....a cylinder has seized, the fluid has got hot, boiled and you've lost pressure. Get the car off the road and get it looked at. Look for the seized cylinder/warping on the affected disc/ degradation of the pad material (an axle change of material) and boiled fluid that will need changing.
