Fiat 500 - room in the back?

My wife is hankering after a 500 and I wondered how much space there was in the back/boot?

We've got 2 young children and a Labrador and the car would need to take them all from time to time.

There's enough room for two adults in the rear seats, but the boot tapers in alot(parcel shelf is about three inches deep) so there is no way a big dog is going to fit in the boot. Legally, one of the three would have to stay behind.

Yep, i'd echo the inability to get a Lab in the boot. It would be technically possible, but it would be exceedingly cruel.
